The Seal of Michaelangelo

Eschenberg, JJ. Manual of Classical Literature, pub 1843, Biddle.

Eschenberg describes Michaelangelo's signet ring, whose provenance was disputed: an authentic antique, or crafted by his contemporary and friend, Gio Maria de Pescia? The dispute was long regarded as an example of the follies of antiquarians.

I read about this ring in a very old book called The Handbook of Archeology. I looked it up again and you can find it on the internet already.http://books.google.com/books?id=iSMCAAAAYAAJ&oe=UTF-8
